Contrary to what you may be told, there can be a path to happiness in life. There's no guarantee that if you do all things correctly and as planned, you will have a perfect life, yet major pitfalls can be avoided. Take a step to controlling your world and your Happiness...
Life does give you hints along the way. If you open up and tune in, you can capture the path you should be on and create your own happiness. At the risk of sounding Old School...go take a sheet of paper - fold it in half. In the left column, write down everything you want. In the right column, write down everything you hate. Don't just shoot from the hip on this little exercise, after all you could be determining the course of your future, so take the time and put some thought into your likes and dislikes. This sheet of paper holds the key to what you need to do to achieve your happiness in spite of Life's spit balls along the way.
With that sheet of paper, you have laid out a map of what you should be going after and what clearly annoys you and shuts down your energy. For instance, I loathe drama. I avoid it at all costs, yet I swore it followed me. A wise friend of mine told me "Life is Drama". He has a point. When dealing with various individuals, each one has their own agenda and manner in whatever encounters or relationships you share with them. Instead of allowing other's opinions to annoy me, I've learned to take it on face value and not be afraid to respond in the manner they address me - however I do it at higher, more intellectual level (just to annoy them further...why not?)
You can use your "likes" and apply it to your love life. You'll know exactly who you should be attracting and who you should be avoiding. If a potential suitor is over zealous and drama filled - and both of those characteristics are on your "Hate" list - let them go...trust me, you'll never be happy with that person.
Use that sheet to distinguish what will make your work life fulfilling. If you hate constantly dealing with people, then move to a career where you will not have to encounter people continously. If you are better at working with minimal supervision, then a work at home position may very well suit you.
I may have learned this lesson later in Life, but the bottom line is I finally learned it. With a little homework, introspection and persistence, it is possible to create a happier existence in this World...:)
